Commanding songs in over a dozen languages, these gifted musicians interpret both ancient and modern repertoire, combining stylistic authority with immense creative flair. Emotive vocals, world beat percussion, Spanish dance and oriental timbres make Flamenco Sepharad's masterful arrangements a must-see musical experience.

2006 - Summer Workshop
World Dance Houston 2006. Exploring the Global Heritage of Dance
July 14 through August 6, 2006
World Dance explores those unique cultural traditions that enrich our world, and the universal human experiences that have always moved us to dance. World Dance Houston is a workshop designed to provide hands-on experience and teaching tools for teachers and artists who want to give their work a global perspective. Our goal: Practical Inspiration.
Teachers, dancers, choreographers: The Workshop will be held on four consecutive Saturdays: July 15, July 22, July 29, and August 5, 2006. Sessions include two classes each day, from 9:00am to Noon, and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm. Optional enrichment classes will be held each following Sunday, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Students:
You can take this workshop for 3 hours of academic credit in 4 weekends, running Friday, July 14th through Sunday, August 6th, 2006. Fridays sessions, from 6:00pm to 10:00 pm, Saturday sessions, including two master classes, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Sundays, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

Joy to the World: World Dance Institute’s Winter Concert
This year Central’s World Dance Institute welcomes two performers new to Joy To The World, the Institute’s annual concert celebrating ancient dance traditions. WonLande West African Drum and Dance is an ensemble performing traditional dances of Guinea, and Dasifu Shi De Shan, abbot and headmaster of Houston’s Songshan Shaolin Temple, will be performing with his students.
